I love the 90s...just saying.

Remember the 90's?  *sigh* If not, I've decided to post some pictures as a refresher.  Hope you enjoy!

Ah, SAVED BY THE BELL.  I mean, was there ever a better high school show? (Don't answer that!) Remember the episode where Jesse freaked out?  "I'm so excited...I'm so excited..I'm so...scared."  The ultimate after school special, right there.

I don't know about you, but I was in love with Mike Vitar.
"You're killing me Smalls!"

You know you all had this tape. That's right. TAPE.  Sing it with me now!
"Someday somebody's gonna make you wanna turn around and say goodbye..."
So cool, am I right? (chirp, chirp) Anyone?

Honestly, I don't think there's anything sexier than pants that make you look like you have thunder thighs with a mismatching neon-colored wind breaker

I've got four words for you.  "Did I do thaaaaaat?"

Wow.  Just wow.  Personally, I think fanny packs were a great idea.  Especially the neon-colored kind.  I, myself, had one or two...or eight.

Okay, this movie scared the CRAP out of me.  I was one of those peeps who saw it on opening weekend and thought it was a "real" documentary.  And can I just say, I almost peed my pants in the theater

Ah, Alanis Morisette an her Jagged Little Pill album.  You know you had a copy and sang every song at the top of your lungs while you put on your broomstick skirt and spaghetti strap midriff for school...don't deny it....

First of all, did anyone else's parents freak out and "forbid" them to watch this movie? I realize the movie in itself is 90s-relevant, but what I want to point out here is the fashion.

1) Chokers: Oh yeah! Nothing hotter than a piece of rope around your neck like a collar.

2) Suspenders: One strap always falling off while the other one is too tight and cuts off circulation to your left arm...so sexy.

3) Schoolgirl skirts and socks: Cute. Let's bring this back.  Seriously.  I have a collection of schoolgirl skirts/socks in my closet that desperately needs to be worn.

Don't pretend like you don't have 200 of these stashed in some box in your closet in the hopes of someday cashing them in for millions of dollars. I know you do.

Best TV show ever. Period. I own all ten seasons and have every episode memorized. Yeah. I'm *that* girl.

I saw the sign. And you know what? It opened up my eyes. I saw the sign.

*big sigh* I loved the 90s.
I totally thought it was "all that and I bag of chips".

  1. My fav was the cheerleaders at the pep rally..."Bee Ba Bee Ba Ba Ba Bee, Go Bayside!" OR possibly when Jessie Spano aka Mama did the interpretive dance of a butterfly emerging from the cocoon...

Hahaha! Oh, the cocoon! That was the best!! :) Haha!

hahahaha!!! I love that you blogged about our lunch convo! and everything you mentioned is perfect!!! Me and my two besties had full dance routines to EVERY Wilson Phillips song on that tape. IN FACT, that's exactly how I broke my elbow in the second grade...a dance routine to "Eyes Like Twins"...I stood up on a child size chair, lost my balance and used my straight arm to brace my fall. oh snap. literally.
Oh and ask Jon about his fanny pack collection. seriously.

See! I knew I wasn't alone in this! I remember everything you posted! The only thing is I never watched the Blair Witch. Never had interest in it. I snuck to a friends house and watched that movie I was forbid of though! LOL That girl was freaky!

I am reading Sophie and Carter right now!!! YAY!!!

  1. @ashley bugg

Ashley: Um...you broke your elbow?? Is that even possible? Hahaha! And trust me, I'm okay if I never see Jon's fanny pack collection. Some things need to STAY in the 90s...know what I mean? Haha!

Amy: Good call on not watching Blair Witch. It did nothing positive for my life. In fact, I'm pretty sure I slept in my parents room the night I watched it...and I was 17 years old! Haha! But The Craft, well....I think most girls found a way to sneak a peek at that film. And I think it had a lot to do with the fact that Jewel's song "Who will save your soul" was used for the movie previews. Who will save your soul, indeed! :) Haha! :)

Oh my gosh, I loved Zack. I was going to marry him. And Erkel, I especially enjoyed his cousin Myrtle Erkel :). I miss neon. I've been sneaking pieces back into my life/wardrobe here and there. And I was just wishing two days ago that fanny packs would be reinvented. I need that convenience with a kid on each arm! Alannis :) And yes 100% agree on Friends. Best ever. I only have the last 3 seasons, slowly building that DVD collection. Thanks for the fun reminders!

@Chelsea he doesn't still HAVE his fanny pack collection ;) , but a collection he did have. yikes. and yes, I broke it. apparently I'm rather fragile. broken elbow, wrist, back...I'm not allowed to stand on things anymore..

Let's not leave out NKOTB and the later years with the boyband phenonmenon ;) NSync could kick BSBs butt in a brawl...just sayin'

Also, I would like to say RIP to my gigapet...mellow, and apologize for not feeding you enough, losing you under my bed to leave you there to face your demise alone...

Along with Alanis, lets throw in some Sarah M. for inspiring me to sing Angel my sophmore year's talent show

And lastly, the most important thing I learned from SBTB..."There's no hope, with Dope!"

LOL!! I love this! I can remember so much of this stuff (guess that dates me, huh?). Regardless, the 90's were fun - especially the fashions. So many colours, textures, and styles! Now everyone just wears jeans or something black - how boring is that?!

  1. Chelsea Fine said...:

@Wendy I know, right? Fashion has definitely lost some of its flare since exiting the 90's. :)

I love this post! The Sandlot was definitely one of my favorite 90's movies :)

P.S I'm still scared of "The Blair Witch Project" *shivers*

  1. Chelsea Fine said...:

@Melody Right? Blair Witch was FREAK-Y! I mean, the last scene, with the boy in the corner or whatever that was...aghhh! So scary. Hahaha.

That WIlson Phillips cover is slightly disturbing. lol

I'm pre-90's so I had a pet rock and a mexican jumping bean as my pets. Electronic pets seem like a step up from that!

  1. Chelsea Fine said...:

Haha! Yeah, I guess so...IF you like your pets to wake you up at 3am with an obnoxious beeping noise telling you to feed them. Haha! :)
